You’ve been struggling with that mid-section for years now, and nothing seems to get rid of it. You’re one of the ‘unlucky’ people, who only envy those who seem to eat like pigs, but never get fat. We all know the type, they’re the ones that hardly work out and yet have ripped abs. You follow the exact same diet and workouts as them, but it doesn’t do you much good. Well, the answer lies not in what you’re doing, but in how your body handles fat.

Simply put, Metabolism is the body’s process of chemically breaking down nutrients, and converting them to cellular components like Protein. When it comes to fat, people with higher metabolisms break it down much more effectively. Those people that always seem skinny probably have a faster metabolism than yours. It’s a genetic quality, but there’s good news. You too can turn your metabolism into fat burning furnace, and here are a few tips on how to do it.
How to Increase Your Metabolism into a Fat Burning Furness
Start your day actively: Research shows that people who start their day with some physical activity have a higher metabolic rate throughout the day. If you can work out in the morning, great, but if not, try to do at least 10 minutes of some aerobic exercise in the morning.

Make your workouts intense! It isn’t how long you work out but how hard you work out. Let your workouts be short, but intense. Try to throw circuit training into your mix, and make sure that you don’t wait too long between sets. Physical activity certainly burns calories, but it also raises your metabolism for many hours after your workout, so you’re actually burning fat even when you’re resting. Intense workout will keep this ‘after burn’ effect going for much longer.

Drink a lot of cold water. Water is one of the most important building blocks of life, but it’s also very important when it comes to losing fat. Water flushes out the toxins from your body, leaving it in a better position to do what it does best. Cold water not only leaves the body faster, but also increases your metabolism, as your body burns up calories to bring its temperature closer to your body temperature. Try to drink at least 2-3 liters a day, starting with the moment you wake up.

Eat healthier. Our lifestyles and diets in this day and age make us eat a lot of stuff that really isn’t good for us. If you’re surviving on pizza and Chinese take-away, this is likely not doing much for your metabolism, or overall health. Try to bring in more fiber, protein, complex carbohydrates and good fats into your diet. Eating raw fruit and vegetables is great because your body uses up a lot of calories to digest this. Of course, this is something you have to make a habit out of, just doing it for a few days won’t help.

Eat at least 5 smaller meals. This is something that everybody advocates, but our lifestyles today make it difficult.
We’ve gotten used to eating 2 or 3 large meals at designated hours, but that isn’t how our bodies were built to operate. Start your day with a heavy breakfast, since your body has been without nutrition for at least 8 hours. You need to cut down on the size of your following meals, but have at least four more. This will enable your body to digest your food better, but will also keep your metabolism going, as it takes energy to digest your food.

Gain Muscle. The more muscle you have in your body, the higher your basal metabolism rate. Simply put, your body uses energy to supply blood thru your muscles. That’s why you need to work on the larger muscle groups in your body like your quadriceps and your back. Working out these muscles will drastically increase your metabolism rate.

Green Tea and Milk.  Green tea is a great catalyst that helps your body cut its fat. It’s also a much healthier option than regular tea of coffee. If you need coffee to keep you stimulated, green tea will have the same effects on you. If you’re not lactose intolerant, a glass or two of milk a day will also give you much needed proteins and calcium, and boost your metabolism rate.

Sleep eight hours a day. Sleeping less than that is harmful, as your body needs the rest. Sleeping much more than the recommended eight hours can also have negative effects on your body. When you’re asleep, your systems shut down, making your metabolic rates plummet. Keep a gap between dinner and bedtime.
Try to get to sleep early and wake up early for a healthy start to your day.
